Videography and Short Films
I love movies. I’ve always had a deep interest in Hollywood movies and how those are made, but my passion for making movies and videos started in Grade 9 when I heard my high school had a film class. I had developed a pretty strong interest in photography at that point already, and I already loved using cameras so this was only natural for me. Since then, I’ve made countless student films including documentaries, comedies, horrors, and even a 30-minute TV pilot which I helped produce, direct and edit for my Grade 12 film class.
As a Media Production student, my interest and passion has skyrocketed, and my ambition has as well. I’ve been making short travel videos over the last 6 years, and in the past four years, I’ve made 4 narration/documentary-style videos to recap what I did each year. Below are some of these projects, including my 2021 Year in Review video, a short documentary, and a travel video from Sarasota, Florida.
My Year - 2021
2021 is officially in the books. When I look back on 2021 — I remember and feel a lot of different emotions. A lot of positive and happy times, and some sad — but I also thought about how important it is to take time to remember. Not just what you experienced, but how those experiences make you feel.
Abandoned
My grandmother, Barb Bowman, grew up on a rural Ontario farm from the 1930s-1940s just outside of Stratford. Amongst the many challenges of rural farm life during this time period, my grandmother and her 6 siblings, and her mother, faced the shocking departure of her father when she was only 3 years old. This created many economic and psychological difficulties within the family, and this documentary explores how the family persevered through their difficult times and how it shaped them as adults. This TARA Award nominated short documentary was shot, directed, produced, and edited by Luke Farwell.
Sarasota 2019: The Calm of the Keys
What a beautiful spot! Such amazing colours and scenery and some great spots in town! I loved going around filming and taking photos around Sarasota — visiting the beach, the trees, and the warm sun. I look forward to the next time I come here!
